Activities on Maui

Maui has an amazing number of activities to satisfy every visitor.  The following is a list of some of the more popular activities.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding these activities or for our personal recommendations.
Molokini: A snorklers paradise.

Molokini is an ancient volcano caldera that is located a short distance off of the Wailea coast.  This caldera and the associated reefs are home to some of the greatest concentration of tropical sea life.  Visibility is typically over 100 feet in the clear water. Boats leave Maalaea Harbor most mornings for a short trip to this marine sanctuary.

Haleakala: National Park and World's Largest Dormant Volcano

The Haleakala volcano comprises most of the land mass of the island of Maui.  The summit of Haleakala is home to the Haleakala National Park.  Hiking is a popular ativity at the summit, with the volanic terrain providing a breathtaking view.  Another popular acitivity is biking down from the summit.  A variety of bike tour companies will provide transportation to the summit at sunrise, and then provide rental bikes for the exhilirating ride down along paved roads.

Hana: A trip back in time through tropical rainforests

The road to Hana is a journey back in time.  The 50 mile Hana Highway has over 500 curves and over 50 bridges as you travel past cool lush rainforests and along the seaside coasts.  The town of Hana itself is picturesque and harkens back to the slower era of old Hawaii.

Lahaina: The Royal Capital of Hawaii

Lahina is a formal whaling town and the one time capital of the Royal Kingdom of Hawaii.  Current day Lahina still carries much of the charm of the past.  A variety of small stores and shops sell native arts and crafts and provide a variety of local and ethnic cusines.  Some of the best "shaved ice," a cool local treat found in the islands can be found in Lahaina.  The drive to Lahaina is about 45 minutes from Wailea, much of it along a scenic oceanside highway.

Whale Watching

December through the end of April is whale season in Maui, and whaltes can be seen from your own private lanai at the Wailea Orchid Villa.  For a closer view of these magnificent animals, a variety of whale watching tours provide half day trips for close up views.
